Ja'Marr Chase Lists Rams' Cooper Kupp in WR 'Mount Rushmore'

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase ranked Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp among the top-4 to ever play the position.

Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp climbed the all-time receiver ranks throughout his historic 2021 campaign and winning Super Bowl MVP was the cherry on top.

Kupp was the fourth receiver since 1990 to win the triple crown that season, as he logged the most receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16) in the NFL.

While his extraordinary season is among the best ever, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase went a step further.

Chase, who lost the Super Bowl against Kupp, included him on his "Mount Rushmore" list of the NFL's four greatest receivers.

“Alright, I'm gonna (add) Calvin Johnson,” Chase told Sports Illustrated's Robin Lundberg. “I gotta get Antonio Brown in there…I gotta throw Kupp in there with the triple crown, and Jerry Rice, of course.”

The "Mount Rushmore" receiver debate has been argued for quite some time and Rice and Johnson are usually some of the names that come up. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens are too, but Chase ranked Kupp ahead of them.

"I'm not knocking (Moss and Owens)," Chase said. "I'd add (Chad Ochocinco) in there too if I could, but there are only four (spots)," Chase said.

This is one of the first times an NFL personality has named Kupp among these legends, as Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Marvin Harrison and many more have been mentioned before him.

Kupp likely has a few more years left in the tank, but he's on a much different Rams team than the one that hoisted the Lombardi Trophy two years ago.

In 2022, the All-Pro receiver suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 10. Kupp averaged over 90 yards in the nine games he played. Rams Pro Bowlers, quarterback Matthew Stafford and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, also missed time during last season's 5-12 Super Bowl hangover.

Kupp is dealing with a minor injury, but should hopefully be healthy by Week 1 of the regular season.

Assuming he plays a full season, the 30-year-old is still very much in his prime and can hopefully lead Los Angeles in the right direction.

If he continues to perform like he did in 2021 and 2022 (before the injury), more members of the NFL community may agree with Chase's unpopular opinion.
