Rams Cooper Kupp: 'He's Pretty Special;' Is Puka Nacua Sneaky Rookie Star?

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp thinks BYU product Puka Nacua can be an early star for the Rams.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams selected BYU WR Puka Nacua in the 5th round with selection No. 177, an unexpected spot for a rookie to become a star. But that's what Cooper Kupp expects of the young receiver.

"He's pretty special," Kupp said in Tuesday's press conference. "He gets down a good trajectory, he's going to be a very good football player in this league."

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Nacua began his college career at Washington before transferring to BYU after two years and becoming a star. In his last two seasons combined, he tallied 91 receptions, 1,430 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with five scores on the ground.

Since arriving to Los Angeles, he's caught attention as a player who 'gets it,' understanding schemes quickly and learning beyond the typical pace.

"Things that you've done before to get open might not fit in the realm of what we want to do here, but man, he's just transitioned so quickly over to understanding what the parameters are he's able to work in," Cupp continued.

With two months and three off-season games still to adjust, keep an eye out for Nacua to get reps in a receiving corps that has serious questions outside of Van Jefferson and the banged-up Kupp.
