Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp 'Day-to-Day,' Could Play vs. Arizona Cardinals?

Despite intial concern surrounding the injury to Cooper Kupp, the Los Angeles Rams could have their star receiver back as soon as Sunday versus the Arizona Cardinals.

After initial concern surrounding the injury to star Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks, coach Sean McVay was the bearer of good news during his press conference Monday. 

"Yeah, it'll be day-to-day," McVay said of Kupp's injury. "It was just a lateral ankle sprain, so that was positive news for us." 

With the Rams beginning preparations for Sunday's game versus the Arizona Cardinals, McVay also revealed Monday that a return for Kupp isn't out of the question. 

"Not sure. I think that's the goal," McVay said. "I know he's going to do everything in his power, but I think it's definitely favorable where that's a real possibility that he would be available. It's not something where you're saying he's definitely going to be out for this week, but you want to see the functionality."

Kupp played just a quarter versus Seattle before injuring his right ankle, the same one that caused him to miss the final eight games of last season as he was forced to undergo surgery on it.

Combine that with the fact that Kupp has already battled back from a hamstring injury he first suffered early into training camp, which caused him to miss the Rams' first four games this season.

While L.A. did fare better than many expected without Kupp, starting the season out 2-2 before his return in the Week 5 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, losing him again could be detrimental to their hopes of returning to the race for the playoffs. 

This makes the day-to-day designation a welcomed relief for the Rams as their win over the Seahawks pushed them to 4-6 on the year, with just two games separating L.A. from Seattle in the NFC West, who also currently hold the final Wild Card spot.

The Rams will travel to Glendale, Arizona, to face the Cardinals inside State Farm Stadium, where kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. (PT) on Sunday.
