DeSean Jackson Retiring? Ex Rams WR Hints At Future
Decorated receiver DeSean Jackson - who had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams - hinted in an Instagram post Saturday evening that his career has concluded.
Now 36, Jackson wrote "Did it my way 15 years strong!! Neva anotha like it! #0ne0fone," which feels like a message someone would write when they were retiring:
A second-round pick out of Cal in 2008, Jackson will most be remembered for his two stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, if his career is indeed over. In parts of eight seasons with the Eagles, Jackson caught 379 passes for 6,512 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had stints with the Washington franchise, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, and most recently, the Baltimore Ravens.
The Los Angeles native joined the Rams prior to the 2021 season and caught eight passes for 221 yards and a touchdown in Sean McVay's offense before being granted his release to pursue a bigger role elsewhere. While Jackson would catch on with the Raiders, he missed a chance to be part of a Super Bowl team with the Rams, who would go on to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl LVI.
Jackson probably won't end up in the Hall of Fame, but he's definitely one of the best deep threats that the NFL has ever seen. In total, Jackson will finish his career with 11,263 receiving yards and 17.6 average yards per reception.
