Rams Interview Packers Coach Greg Williams For Defensive Role

The Los Angeles Rams have interviewed long-time NFL coaching vet Greg Williams for a defensive role with the team.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams hired new defensive coordinator Chris Shula to replace Raheem Morris last week after Morris left to become the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

A few former Rams assistants then began following Morris to the Falcons, including Jimmy Lake, who became the new defensive coordinator in Atlanta.

Now, they are beginning to search for ways to fill out the rest of the defensive staff, which has now reportedly led them to Packers passing game coordinator and 15-year NFL coaching veteran Greg Williams.

Per reports from CBS NFL Analyst Jonathan Jones, the Rams interviewed Williams for the role of inside linebackers coach.

Williams would replace the void left by Shula's ascension to defensive coordinator. The 47-year-old spent one year with the Packers, coming to Green Bay after four seasons as the cornerbacks coach for the Arizona Cardinals from 2019-2022.

Williams also spent one season as the defensive backs coach for the Broncos in 2018, and two seasons in the same position with the Colts in 2016-17.

Beginning his coaching career as an intern at Arizona State in 2003, Williams has made 10 different stops over his 21 total years in coaching, moving to the NFL in 2009 with the San Deigo Chargers.
