Rams' Jalen Ramsey Trade Sweepstakes: Which Teams Lead the Way?
The stars of the NASCAR Cup Series at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana on Sunday won't be the only ones looking to establish a lead near Los Angeles.
With the Southern California-based future of Los Angeles Rams defender Jalen Ramsey in question, two contenders have reportedly taken up the front row of the race to land his services.
Ramsey, fresh off his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance despite the Rams' struggles, will no doubt attract many suitors but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has labeled the Detroit Lions and Las Vegas Raiders as premature favorites in a process that will no doubt serve as one of the most intriguing storylines of the NFL offseason.
Detroit's current representatives have made no secret about how much they'd like to see Ramsey switch to Honolulu blue, with offensive star Amon-Ra St. Brown lobbying for a reunion between Ramsey and former Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff.
Like the Lions, the Raiders also linger as an intriguing possibility as they look to shore up a defense that partook in some of the NFL's most painful late-game collapses last season, ranking 29th in yards allowed through the air and nabbing only six interceptions.
The green flag has only just waved upon the NFL offseason, but the cap space-hungry Rams will likely make a Ramsey resolution one of their more immediate priorities, especially with the draft looming.
Los Angeles currently has no first-round pick, having sent what became the sixth overall choice in the upcoming 2023 proceedings in Kansas City to the aforementioned Lions.
