NBA Star Blake Griffin Was 'Good Resource' For Rams Ex Jared Goff After Lions Trade

Former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff reveals that he talked to a six-time NBA All-Star who underwent a similar transition after the signal-caller was traded to the Detroit Lions.

Six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin understands the emotions of being traded to the Motor City, as he was dealt from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Detroit Pistons in 2018. When quarterback Jared Goff found himself traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions in 2021, Griffin was quick to reach out.

During a recent appearance on Barstool Sports' "Pardon My Take," Goff revealed that the NBA All-Star was a supportive source following his trade to the Lions.

“Blake did [text]. I think you [Dan Katz] put me on text with Blake. And I think he was actually trying to work his way out of Detroit when I was coming in here. So he was like, You're gonna love it, but I'm kind of leaving soon. But yeah, no, he was a good resource. And yeah, it was funny," Goff said.

The two didn't get the chance to overlap in the Motor City, as only a month and a half after Goff's trade to the Lions, Griffin was bought out by the Pistons and subsequently joined the Brooklyn Nets.

Meanwhile, throughout his first season with the Lions, Goff faced challenges, posting a record of 3-10-1 and throwing for 3,245 yards and 19 touchdowns. However, he made an impressive comeback in 2022, achieving a 9-8 record and throwing for 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns.

As Goff enters his third season with the Lions, he will look to lead the team back to the postseason for the first time since 2016.
