Former Rams Coach Joe DeCamillis Hired by Texas Longhorns

After the Los Angeles Rams went 5-12 this past season, Joe DeCamillis and many others on staff were not retained by coach Sean McVay just a year after the team won Super Bowl LVI. Now, he's joining the Texas Longhorns.

One of the most notable faces from the Los Angeles Rams' coaching staff overturn has found a new home at the collegiate ranks.

The Texas Longhorns are adding more NFL experience to coach Steve Sarkisian's staff for this upcoming season, as the program has hired former Rams special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis as as special assistant to the head coach in an off-field role, per reports from Horns247.

He'll essentially be filling the role left by Gary Patterson, the longtime TCU Horned Frogs head coach who aided Sarkisian and Co. in 2022 before announcing in March that he'd be stepping away from the program after just one season.

After the Rams went 5-12 this past season, DeCamillis and many others on staff were not retained by coach Sean McVay just a year after the team won Super Bowl LVI. DeCamillis also won Super Bowl 50 while with the Denver Broncos.

All 32 years of DeCamillis' NFL experience have been spent on special teams. He's coached with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Rams.

He'll now look to bring some of his championship-winning wisdom to the staff in Austin while being a key set of eyes for Sark when it comes to the smallest of details.
