Rams Trade Reaction: 'I Like My Team!’
The Los Angeles Rams traded for Pittsburgh Steelers guard Kevin Dotson on Aug. 27, hoping to add some depth to the offensive line.
And he’s happy with the move.
Dotson is entering his fourth season, starting in all 26 games he has played since 2021. The fourth-round pick started in 4-of-13 contests when he was a rookie.
Now that he's with the Rams, Dotson is excited about the "new opportunity."
"California is a nice state to be in weather-wise, there's a lot of stuff to do," Dotson said after Thursday's practice. "I like the team and I like my o-line group, so I feel like it's going to come all together."
Dotson explained that the Rams players and coaching staff have been very helpful in getting him acclimated to the team.
"They're very welcoming to teaching you the plays," Dotson said. "They have a lot on their plate, so they give you a lot of plays to help you in the starting stages."
Dotson said that he brings "pretty good" strength and run/pass blocking to the table, but he has another characteristic that will be important for the offensive line's success.
"I'm a real team player," Dotson said. "Everybody on the Steelers would vouch for me knowing that I'm a good guy, so I'm just trying to bring that energy here, too."
Soon, Dotson hopes to make the trade worth it for the Rams.
"I just want to prove myself," Dotson said. "I know what I'm capable of and the Steelers do, too. It's a business and (the Steelers) did what they had to do. I got to take full advantage of the opportunity and see what I can do. I'm just waiting for it."
The Rams will face the Seattle Seahawks in the season opener on Sept. 10. Dotson hopes to "take full advantage of the opportunity" then. However, Tremayne Anchrum Jr. is currently listed as the starting right guard on the Rams' unofficial depth chart, while Dotson is next in line as the backup. … but still feeling good about his new home.
