Ernest Jones Shares New 'Addiction' With Rams Teammates
There's nothing like going from hard-hitting on the gridiron to swinging a driver off of a peaceful tee box.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Ernest Jones told the "We Love LA" show that he found the sport of golf around Valentine's Day with his teammates. And he hasn't looked back.
Jones watched Charlie Woods, the son of five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods, and thought he could replicate the 14-year-old's abilities, but quickly realized it wouldn't be that easy.
However, once Jones got the hang of it, he said "It's been an addiction ever since."
Whether he's up at the tee or riding the cart to the next hole, Jones says golf is the only thing on his mind.
"When you're golfing you don't think about [football] practice, you just focus on the shot and relax," Jones said. "It gives me a way to get away from the chaos of football."
As Jones continues to improve, he mentioned some other teammates that he hopes to beat on the green, including offensive linemen Coleman Shelton, Christina Rozeboo, and Rob Havenstein.
"Coleman has a really good game. I've played with Rob and [Tyler] Higbee and they're both solid. Then you have Christian Rozeboom and you've got to throw Jake Hummel in that conversation as well."
As football season quickly approaches, the Rams are one of the teams that needs to make drastic improvements to get back on track.
But for now, Jones and his teammates are just enjoying the time off until that work begins.
"A week before training camp you get into football mode," Jones said. "There won't be time for much else other than going home after practice and studying. I think this is a good time to take advantage of it and play golf, do a hobby that you love and have fun with your teammates."
