Rams Trade? NFL Insider Calls Matthew Stafford 'Fully Available'
After a brutal 5-12 season, the Los Angeles Rams appear to be making some sweeping changes.
And according to the latest reports from NFL insider Michael Lombardi, the biggest one yet could be on the horizon.
During a podcast appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Lombardi indicated that the Rams have 'called teams' in regard to a potential trade of Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Matthew Stafford.
"Matt Stafford is fully available," Lombardi said. "They would love to trade him. They can't do it because he has $57 million guaranteed... The Rams, what are they going to do? They're trying to get out from it. I don't want to hear the b*** s*** that 'we're not trying to trade him. Yes, you are. You've called teams. I know this."
The 34-year-old is coming off of a season in which he missed a majority of the year with a good portion of the season due to various injuries, including both an elbow issue and a spinal contusion.
NFL pundits are currently split on their opinions of Stafford, with some calling him the NFC's best-returning quarterback, while others believe he could be on the verge of retirement due to wear and tear.
Stafford finished the 2022 season completing 206 of 303 passes for 2,087 yards and 10 touchdowns with eight interceptions in nine games.
He was also sacked 29 times in those nine games, which was the 16th most in the NFL, despite him missing nearly half the season.
Stafford also signed a four-year $160 million extension with $57 million guaranteed last march, which was designed to keep him in Los Angeles through 2026.
Now, that plan could be in jeopardy.
