Rams Meet With Star WR Prospect Rome Odunze, Trade Up Incoming?
Between Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and a host of depth options, the Los Angeles Rams are pretty well off at the receiver position.
That said, one should not rule out the possibility of the Rams adding another receiver through free agency or the draft. The team's brass has shown a desire to be aggressive this offseason, and if they decide the best way to do that is by adding another receiver, then they will most certainly follow through on that.
Reportedly, L.A. is even doing its due diligence on one of the top receivers in the draft. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Rams were one of several teams to meet with Washington Huskies star Rome Odunze, widely considered to be a top-three receiver in this class, at the NFL Scouting Combine.
“Also spent some time with the Colts, Jaguars, Rams and Steelers,” Rapoport said. “The reason why those are interesting is those would be potential trade-up teams. Rarely do you see a huge trade-up for a receiver, but not never. Obviously, that is something to keep an eye on.”
It's very unlikely that Odunze would be available when the Rams come up to pick at No. 19 overall, as he will likely go in the top 10 or soon after. As Rapoport mentions, though, trading up could be an option for the Rams if they really want Odunze that badly.
Last season at Washington, Odunze was probably the single best receiver in the country as he caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Las Vegas native has an impressive frame 6-3 and 215 pounds, but also has good speed as he ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the combine.
Rams Star Cooper Kupp Has Advice For NFL Draft Prospects at Combine
It still seems a bit hard to believe that the Rams would trade up for a receiver when they have several pressing needs, but Odunze is certainly a prospect to watch.
