Rams Last, Jalen Ramsey's Dolphins First in ESPN NFL CB Rankings

The Los Angeles Rams place dead last on ESPN's cornerback rankings while an old friend finds himself on top

In the eyes of many NFL analysts, the Los Angeles Rams aren't very hot right now.

After finishing 5-12 last season and parting ways with several prominent players this offseason, the Rams find themselves near the bottom of many power rankings. Some analysts believe that L.A. has one of the worst overall rosters in the league, with some positions such as cornerback looking incredibly thin.

ESPN's Mike Clay has ranked each team's individual units, and in the cornerback rankings, the Rams placed dead last.

To be fair, it's not hard to see why Clay is so low on the Rams' corners. Of the five corners he lists, three of them (Cobie Durant, Derion Kendrick, and Shaun Jolly) only have one year of experience, Robert Rochell has two, and Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson is a rookie. Those five players combine for just 12 career starts and four interceptions, three by Durant and one by Kendrick.

On the other end of the spectrum, a former Ram leads the way for the team at the top. Clay ranks the Miami Dolphins' cornerback group as the best in the league with Jalen Ramsey, their prized offseason acquisition from the Rams, leading the way. With Ramsey and longtime Dolphin Xavien Howard, Miami certainly isn't lacking talent at the position.

Cornerback isn't the only position Clay thinks the Rams are in trouble at. He also placed them last in edge rusher, off-ball linebacker, and safety units, as well as in defense as a whole. The Rams' offense fared a bit better but still not great, landing at No. 23 in the rankings. Unsurprisingly, Clay has the Rams dead last in his overall rankings.

It's a harsh judgment to be sure, and one the Rams will want to prove wrong this season.
