Is Penn State Edge Chop Robinson A Rams NFL Draft Target?

The Los Angeles Rams have not made a first-round pick since 2016, but barring a trade, that is likely to change in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Los Angeles Rams were in the bottom five teams in the league this past season in sacks, and that could be one of the areas that the team uses their first-round pick on to improve heading into next season.

There are a couple of different options at the defensive end position that would most likely be available towards the end of the first round, but one of the more intriguing options is Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson.

He was not the most productive prospect at the position in college, only tallying four sacks and forcing two fumbles in his final season at Penn State. But it is the big man's athletic ability that has NFL teams considering drafting him in the first round in order to give their defensive line a speed boost.

Robinson impressed all of the scouts watching him at the NFL Combine when he ran the 40-yard dash and showed off his outstanding speed for his size. The 6-3, 254-pound edge rusher ran a 4.48, making him one of the fastest defensive linemen to ever run in the Combine.

While his production score ranked thirteenth out of all of the defensive linemen at the Combine, his third overall athleticism score pushed him all the way to being the third-best overall defensive lineman at Indianapolis.

If the Rams were to draft Robinson with the No. 19 pick in the upcoming draft, he would be able to grow alongside the rest of the young core of the Rams' defense. They will be key in the team making the playoffs again and contending this season.
