Rams Pick LSU DE BJ Ojulari in 2-Round ESPN Mock Draft
The Los Angeles Rams have a lot of needs heading into the offseason.
Unfortunately for GM Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay, however, salary cap issues and lack of draft capital will leave them with a proverbial hand tied behind their back.
However, the Rams do have a second-round pick at their disposal, and according to ESPN's latest two-round mock draft, the will utilize that selection wisely, selecting talented LSU Tigers pass-rushing prospect, B.J. Ojulari.
Said ESPN:
Positional value comes into play here, and with no left tackle of value on the board, the front office pivots to pass-rusher. Ojulari (6-3, 250 pounds) had 12.5 sacks the past two seasons while playing off the edge of the LSU defense and wearing the famed No. 18 jersey awarded to a team leader.
LSU annually gives the No. 18 to the player who "best represents all the outstanding traits of an LSU football player," and Ojulari received the nod in 2022.
He's the younger brother of New York Giants outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari, which is only the start of his interesting family background - the Ojulari brothers are the grandsons of Prince Twins Seven-Seven of Nigeria.
As for the younger Ojulari, his athleticism and pass rush presence would be a welcomed addition to a Los Angeles defense that ranked No. 21 in sacks this past season with 38.
While the Rams were far from the worst pass-rushing team in the NFL in 2022, they were middling at best, finishing the regular season ranked 20th in the league with 38 sacks.
The vast majority of those sacks came from three of the Rams' four best players as well, with Leonard Floyd (30) leading the team with nine, followed by six from Bobby Wagner (32) and five from Aaron Donald (31).
Suffice it to say, and depth and youth along the defensive front would be a welcome addition moving forward for Los Angeles.
