Puka Nacua Sends Air Force Veterans, Rams Fans To Super Bowl LVIII
The Los Angeles Rams may not be playing in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, but that doesn't mean that they can't do some good to celebrate the occasion.
Puka Nacua, the rookie sensation who broke records for receptions and receiving yards and his rookie season, is sending some special guests to the big game. The BYU product partnered with USAA and the Non-Commissioned Officers Association of America to bring Air Force Veterans Jim Sullivan and Michael Grabow, both huge Rams fans, to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
“I have two family members ... who were in the National Guard as well, so when the opportunity arose that I was presented, I jumped on it as fast as I could,” Nacua told reporters Saturday, per Deseret News. “That’s a huge honor for me to be able to honor the people who serve our country that allowed me to do what I love to do, play this game of football, so I was super excited.”
Nacua got the chance to meet Sullivan and Grabow, who now live in Sacramento, California, after a Q&A session at the USAA lounge in the Super Bowl experience, where the veterans thanked him for this opportunity.
Sullivan and Grabow have been Rams fans for many years, but both became season ticket holders once the team moved into SoFi Stadium. Once the duo got to see Nacua at Rams training camp in the summer, they knew he would be special.
“We did go down this year, Puka was down there — UC Irvine is where Rams training camp is. We watched him for several hours, and the whole drive home, about six hours, he was pretty much the topic of conversation because he was just incredible,” Sullivan said.
“And we were talking about how excited we were because now (Matthew) Stafford’s healthy, Puka’s coming in and he’s just incredible.”
A few months later, and now Nacua is helping to give them the experience of a lifetime. Safe to say, Sullivan and Grabow will be fans of Nacua for years to come.
What Grade Did Nacua, Rams' Rookie Class Earn?
“... It’s gonna be incredible, and like I say, just looking forward, I’m already watching things, people predicting the Rams to have another good year, and (Puka) will be a big part of it, obviously.”
