Can Rams QB Matthew Stafford Contend For MVP?

Matthew Stafford had a bounce-back year for the Los Angeles Rams this past season, and he could further improve this upcoming season.

Matthew Stafford came up big for the Los Angeles Rams this season and was a big reason why the team was able to make the playoffs.

After injuries kept him on the sideline for the last part of the 2022 season, Stafford came back with a vengeance this past year and showed people that he is still one oe the top quarterbacks in the league.

He threw for just under 4000 yards and did so fairly efficiently, completing over 62 percent of his passes. While he did throw 11 interceptions, he also threw for 24 touchdowns.

If it wasn't for the two games where he was inactive, one of which was for injury and the other because it was the last game of the season, Stafford would have easily thrown for over 4000 yards. Only 10 quarterbacks hit that mark this season, and a couple of them just barely.

With Puka Nacua breaking out this year and only continuing to improve, and Cooper Kupp hopefully having a bounce-back season this year, Stafford could be in the conversation for guys to consider for MVP.

Rams Upgrade Multiple Spots on Defense in Latest Three-Round Mock Draft

Stafford led a Rams team to the playoffs that was coming off of a 5-12 record, the single worst season by a defending Super Bowl Champion in NFL history. The defense was very young and lost a few of its key players from last season, and the team was still able to get it done, against all odds.

If the Rams make a move for a defensive player in free agency or the trade market, as well as making the 19th pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, then the Rams could be poised to make even more noise this season.

Which, in turn, could help put Stafford into the MVP conversation.
