Rams Re-Sign Kicker Brett Maher After Releasing Lucas Havrisik
After waiving kicker Lucas Havrisik on Monday morning, the Los Angeles Rams turned to an old friend by re-signing Brett Maher, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.
One won't have to look too far to remember Maher's previous stint with the Rams, as it was only a few short months ago. The 34-year-old served as L.A.'s kicker for the first seven games of the season, making 17 of 23 field goals and 12 of 13 extra points.
The initial breaking point came when Maher missed two field goals and a PAT against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 22, as the Rams released him just two days later.
Before coming to L.A., Maher spent three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys across two separate stints, as well as one year with the New Orleans Saints in 2021. He has made 79.9 percent of his field goals and 95.2 percent of his PATs in his five-year career.
Havrisik, who replaced Maher earlier in the season, finishes his brief tenure with the Rams after an up-and-down few weeks. In nine games for L.A., the 24-year-old made 15 of 20 field goals and 19 of 22 extra points. Havrisik had some issues with consistency throughout his run, but after missing two extra points in Sunday's win over the New York Giants, the Rams decided it was time for a change.

The Rams also briefly signed veteran kicker Mason Crosby to their practice squad but released him before he played a game for them. Crosby then signed with the Giants, where in an ironic twist of fate, he missed the game-winning kick against the Rams on Sunday.
Changing kickers a week before the playoffs start is certainly not ideal, but with the Rams' kicking game struggling all season, it's a risk they'll have to take.
