Rams Rookie Numbers: Byron Young Becomes First to Wear No. 0
The Los Angeles Rams had a massive haul at the 2023 NFL Draft, selecting a league-high 14 players across all three days. On Friday, the team revealed what numbers those players will be wearing to start their careers.
Most notable among these new numbers is that of linebacker Byron Young, who L.A. selected in the third round at No. 77 overall. The reason why is because Young is now the first player in Rams history to wear No. 0.
The NFL just began allowing players to wear No. 0 this offseason, approving the proposal submitted by the Philadelphia Eagles. This change follows another implemented in the 2021 offseason that allowed players to wear a much wider range of numbers.
Young now joins a very exclusive set of players to wear No. 0. Other players to wear the number include Eagles running back D'Andre Swift, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith and Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Calvin Ridley.
Another notable number in the group is that of quarterback Stetson Bennett, the No. 128 pick in the draft. Bennett will be sticking with the No. 13 he wore at Georgia, the same number that Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner once donned for the Rams.
Below is a list of all 14 draft picks and their new numbers:
