Rams Cam Akers 'Confused' By Inactive Status; Trade Coming?

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers was listed as inactive by the Rams on Sunday, which was apparently news to him.
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams (1-0) are set to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium, looking to win their second-consecutive NFC West matchup.

However, if they're going to do it, it will have to be without starting running back Cam Akers, who was listed as inactive by the team before kick-off.

And apparently, the late scratch was news to Akers himself, who took to Twitter to voice his confusion over the decision.

"I’m just as confused as everybody else," Akers tweeted. "I’m blessed though."

So why is Akers riding the pine for such a big matchup? According to reports from Jay Glazer, it could be due to rumors surrounding a trade.

Akers requested a trade from the team last season but ultimately ended up staying with the team and seemingly patching things up with the coaching staff.

However, it now seems that those trade talks have been reignited.

Akers came into the season as the Rams lead back, struggled in the opener, finishing with 22 carries for 29 yards and a score in the team's dominant 30-13 performance against Seattle.

Instead, it was Kyren Williams who was the more productive of the two backs, finishing with 15 carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

For his career, Akers has 360 carries for 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns - numbers that plenty of running back-starved teams are surely in the market for.

The Rams will kick off against the 49ers at 1:05 pm PT, with Williams likely the primary ball carrier.
