Los Angeles Rams Coach Sean McVay Details 'Smart' Return For RB Kyren Williams

Running back Kyren Williams is a full participant in practice this week for the Los Angeles Rams.

The Los Angeles Rams appear to be inching closer to a return from injury for running back Kyren Williams, and head coach Sean McVay revealed that he is a full participant in practice this week.

Williams was injured earlier this season against the Arizona Cardinals, but even though he is now participating in practice, McVay wants to ensure his running back is fully healthy before he returns to a full role on game days.

“I think you want to be smart about it," McVay said this week. "I think you want to be able to try to simulate some drills without the risk of injury to be able to just get him back to some of the things that are going to occur on Sunday. You can't ever truly simulate those things, but it wasn't like it was too long ago.

"You certainly don't take anything for granted. If he's feeling good, we want him to be able to have a normal workload, and I know he's excited to be back and his teammates are excited to have him.”

Williams has been relieved by some familiar faces at running back since his injury, notably former-and-new Ram Darrell Henderson who found the end zone last week in a crucial part of Los Angeles' win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Even though he has missed multiple games this season, Williams still leads the Rams in rushing yards with 456, and he has six touchdowns on the ground this season.

His return would obviously be a big boost for a Rams offense that has struggled with injuries and production this season. His next opportunity to see the field will come on Sunday when the Rams face the same team they saw when Williams was injured.

Kickoff between the Rams and Cardinals is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and the game will be televised on FOX.
