Los Angeles Rams Rusty in Matthew Stafford's Return, Trail Seattle Seahawks at Halftime
Matthew Stafford may be back under center for the Los Angeles Rams, but his offense has not been firing on all cylinders against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday as the Rams trail 13-7 at the intermission.
Stafford, who is seeing his first action since spraining his UCL in his throwing thumb against the Dallas Cowboys, has gone 7-for-12 for 67 yards through the air and a score, and the team has put up 94 yards of total offense.
Seattle struck in the first quarter to go up 7-0 on a pass from Geno Smith to D.K. Metcalf from eight yards out, and the Seahawks have added a pair of field goals to that total to give them 13 points entering halftime.
Each Rams possession before the final one of the half ended with a punt except for a turnover on downs in a goal-to-go situation in the first quarter. That drive went 73 yards and was riddled with Seattle penalties that kept the possession alive, but Los Angeles was unable to capitalize with points.
Los Angeles seemed to reestablish some offensive momentum on its final possession of the second quarter, however, when Stafford connected with wideout Puka Nacua for a four-yard score.
Royce Freeman leads the Rams in rushing with 30 yards on seven carries, and Austin Trammell leads in receiving with two catches for 26 yards through two quarters. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp also left the field of play late during the second quarter with an ankle injury, according to the CBS broadcast, and he is questionable to return.
The Seahawks are not perfectly healthy, either, as running back Kenneth Walker is listed as "doubtful" to return to action due to an injury sustained in the first half.
