Rams' Jordan Fuller Entering 'Prove-It' Season
The Los Angeles Rams defense has a myriad of question marks, and the team's secondary may be one of the NFL's worst in 2023. And for safety Jordan Fuller, SBNation says this year is put up or shut up.
"The Rams typically don’t re-sign their safeties to long-term deals," the outlet writes. "Fuller is entering a contract year and given how much cap space the Rams do have next year, it’s not completely out of the range of possibilities that they would bring him back. The 2023 season will be a big “prove it” type year for Fuller."
Fuller's main issue, though, is health. He missed the postseason during Los Angeles' Super Bowl run in 2021 and the injury bug snowballed.
His 2022 season was dismal, resulting in just three games played and one game started. In that time, he logged 12 tackles.
But in his two years prior with the Rams, Fuller played 28 games and tallied 173 tackles and four interceptions. If he can get back to that speed, the 25-year-old's future could still be in Los Angeles.
And considering he's the most experienced Rams safety, getting Fuller back to speed affects the entire season.
"You can argue that Fuller is the most important piece in the Rams secondary in 2023. How he plays will have a huge impact on how well that group performs one way or the other," the outlet concludes.
The Rams defense needs surprise stars to step up in order to win this fall, and Fuller must be one of those surprises.
