Huge 49ers Contingency Makes Presence Felt At SoFi Stadium vs. Rams

San Francisco 49ers fans showed up and showed out with a sea of red at SoFi Stadium for what was, on paper, a home game for the Los Angeles Rams.

The Los Angeles Rams tout SoFi Stadium as the "Rams House," but Sunday looked more like, as one fan's sign read, the "Niners House."

Earlier in the week, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa predicted that their fans would "take over" SoFi Stadium against the Rams, and he may have been right. Capacity for the game was over 100 percent with 74,742 filling the 71,500-person venue in Los Angeles, and at first glance, the majority of fans appeared to be wearing 49ers red.

"You look around and it's kind of hard to miss the red in these stands," FOX play-by-play announcer Kevin Kugler said during the broadcast.

The San Francisco contingency that made the six-hour trip down Interstate 5 in California made their presence felt, as one fan suggested it was like the 49ers were playing at "Levi's (Stadium) South."

Late in the first quarter, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey took a 51-yard carry down the left sideline to a loud roar from the crowd. Later in the game when wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was injured, fans started chanting his name as he got up and walked off the field.

The 49ers gave their fans that made the trip to Southern California a treat, as they went on to beat the Rams 30-23. Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 17-of-25 for 206 yards, while McCaffrey ran for 116 yards and a touchdown, while also catching three passes for 16 yards.

There have been notions about Los Angeles fans in the past that they show up late if they show up at all, and Sunday was another instance in which those assumptions proved to be true.
