Will Rams Coach Sean McVay, GM Les Snead Attend NFL Combine?
INDIANAPOLIS -- Between parting ways with All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner and getting closer to trading Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the offseason has picked up for Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead.
And still, the NFL's schedule waits for nobody, as the scouting combine is set to kick off this week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
On-field testing for the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft begins Thursday - but several coaches and executives across the league will be speaking with media in the two days prior.
But McVay and Snead aren't expected to be among them - and, according to the LA Times, won't even be in attendance for the combine.
The Rams will instead be sending "medical staff and a small contingent of scouts and assistant coaches ... to evaluate and interview prospects," per the Times, while McVay and Snead watch the tape of on-field workouts back in Los Angeles.
This isn't exactly a new phenomenon for the duo - they last attended the combine in 2020, as 2021 was canceled due to COVID-19 and they opted not to attend last year.
The Rams hold the No. 36 overall pick in the draft, the seventh consecutive year in which they won't have a first-round selection.
Here's the schedule for on-field workouts in Indianapolis ...
Thursday, Mar. 2 at 3 p.m. - defensive linemen and linebackers
Friday, Mar. 3 at 3 p.m. - defensive backs
Saturday, Mar. 4 at 1 p.m. - quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends
Sunday, Mar. 5 at 1 p.m. - running backs and offensive linemen
The 2023 NFL Draft is scheduled for Apr. 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri.
