Report: Los Angeles Rams Outbid By Seahawks For Ex-Commanders QB Sam Howell
The Los Angeles Rams were reportedly in pursuit of Sam Howell but were outbid by the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL insider Mike Garofolo. The Rams’ NFC West rival sent the Commanders a 2024 third-round pick and fifth-round pick and gained Howell, a fourth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick.
“[The Seattle Seahawks] outbid the Rams, who I know that there was a strong feeling from the Rams coaching staff that they wanted Sam Howell badly,” Garofolo said on the Puck Sports podcast. “They really liked him, so the Seahawks were able to outbid them. So that’s good. You got him. You also kept him away from a team that really could have used him as a potential successor.
The Rams were likely interested in molding Howell into Matthew Stafford’s successor. A seamless quarterback transition will be paramount for an organization with a potential superstar wide receiver in Puka Nacua.
Following his recent retirement, Aaron Donald explained that he believes Nacua could end up doing things that have “never been done” in the NFL.
“You see young guys that play and they fall off a little bit, but for him to stay as poised as he did for the whole season as far as, like, he became a household name as a rookie and he didn’t change,” Donald said on the “Green Light Podcast” with Chris Long. “In my opinion, I think he can do some things that have never been done in this league. But he’s just got to keep working, but he was fun to watch.”
