Should Rams Sign Ex-Stafford Teammate Kenny Golladay?
The Los Angeles Rams are in need of adding a playmaker to the offensive side of the ball, and there are plenty of options available on the free agent market that could come in and make an immediate impact.
However, only one of those options already has a pre-established relationship with quarterback Matthew Stafford - recently released New York Giants wide receiver, Kenny Golladay.
And according to NFL Analyst Robert Griffin III, Golladay's best fit is with none other than the Rams.
Griffin is right on one point here.
Golladay's best years did indeed come with Stafford throwing him the football in 2018 and 2019 with the Detroit Lions.
In 2018, Golladay has his first 1,000-yard season, catching 70 passes on 119 targets for 1,063 yards and five touchdowns. He then followed that up with his career-best season, with 65 catches on 116 targets for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns.
With that said, Griffin's idea of 'fit' ends there.
Over the last three seasons, Golladay has struggled big time, particularly in the last two with New York, catching just 43 passes for 602 yards and one touchdown over 26 games. And in 2022 alone, he had just six catches in 12 games, with four starts.
Golladay is also an often injured player - something the Rams can ill afford to invest more into after a disastrous 2022 campaign on the injury front.
So, while the name might be an eye-catching one for Rams fans, logic says that, of the nine other wide receivers on the market, a good portion of those options will likely come in above Golladay on the Rams radar.
