Rams Trade Idea: Could Chargers' Mike Williams Be Receiver Upgrade?
The Los Angeles Rams might not have much time left with Matthew Stafford, depending on when the veteran quarterback decides to hang up the cleats. With that being said, would it be a good idea to acquire another receiver to make the most of the time he has left with the team?
A good candidate that the team could trade for is Los Angeles Chargers receiver Mike Williams, as his asking price is the lowest it will be right now.
The veteran is coming off of an ACL tear, and as a result, the Chargers can't ask as much for Williams, as he only played in three games this past season. The Rams could take advantage of this and scoop up the 29-year-old, as he can still contribute to a team that is ready to win now.
While the Chargers just hired their new head coach, Jim Harbaugh, who could turn the team around immediately, the Rams just made the playoffs this past season, and are in a much better position to contend immediately.
Are Rams 'Way-Too-Early' 2025 Super Bowl Contenders?
In just 13 games in 2022, Williams had just under 900 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In 2021, he finished with 1,146 yards, which put him just outside the top ten, despite him being the wide receiver two behind Keenan Allen.
Williams would be an intriguing fit next to Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, but it could be something the Rams should check out, as it would make their passing attack even more threatening than it already is.
