How Does Jalen Ramsey Trade to Dolphins Impact Rams NFL Draft Plans?

After trading cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins, how will the Los Angeles Rams' draft plans change?
In this story:

The Los Angeles Rams made headlines Sunday by trading star corner Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins, netting a 2023 third-round draft pick and tight end Hunter Long in return.

Moving Ramsey has been in the works for weeks - but now that it's official, how does it alter Los Angeles' approach in the 2023 NFL Draft?

By adding the No. 77 overall selection, the Rams are now equipped with three picks inside the top 80, as they also hold No. 36 and No. 69 overall.

Los Angeles holds an additional nine picks on Day 3, splitting three apiece across rounds five, six and seven.

Rams general manager Les Snead, who's well-known for the phrase "f--- them picks," said Thursday that he's focused on pursuing an alternative method of roster building while working to get on the positive side of the salary cap.

"Maybe you don't use draft capital to get a veteran player, but instead you use the capital to draft normal rookies," Snead said. "Rookies help in the cap situation based on the salary structures and also when you have a core layer of veterans who are getting into their prime and on the other side of the prime, you definitely want to be ready to replenish it."

Now, the Rams have plenty of capital to do exactly that - starting on the offensive line, where Snead said he'll look for improvements in the draft rather than free agency.

Los Angeles now also has a need at cornerback, where Decobie Durant and Derion Kendrick are now the top two options on the roster.

With Ramsey officially gone, it's likely the Rams will look for his replacement now sooner than expected - perhaps even at No. 36, pushing other spots like offensive line and outside linebacker down the board.
