New Orleans Saints Moving to Los Angeles Rams' Old Training Facility
The Los Angeles Rams are moving into their new training facility this offseason in Woodland Hills. That means their old location is available.
The UC Irvine campus was used by the Rams for their training camp from 2016-19 and again from 2021-23. And now, an old division rival is reportedly taking the campus over.
“Currently, Mrs. Benson and our organization have invested in the construction of a new cafeteria, that when completed,” General Manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement released by the team. “The scope of this project makes it difficult to host training camp on-site in 2024, given the extensive needs for our team to prepare for the regular season. We appreciate the outstanding support we have received from our great fans at training camp.
"We are thankful to be able to come to an agreement with the University of California, Irvine to host a training camp, providing us with exceptional fields and facilities that are critical to our football team receiving the necessary work in preparation for the 2024 season.”
The Saints are no strangers to Southern California, as they've made several trips over the past few years for joint practices with the Chargers - including last year.
The move makes New Orleans the fourth team to host training camp in Southern California this summer, joining the Rams and Chargers, as well as the Dallas Cowboys, who have held their camp in Oxnard since the early 2000s.
Dallas previously held camp at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks since the 1970s.
