Rams vs. Giants Week 17: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Rams need to make a statement against the Giants on Sunday or their postseason hopes could begin to fall.
Los Angeles has an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win over New York and help from a Seattle home loss against Pittsburgh or a Green Bay and Minnesota tie.
One year after one of the most disappointing seasons in recent Rams memory, this year's success was unexpected. After a 3-6 start, Los Angeles has gone 5-1 since, with the only hiccup coming in the form of an overtime loss to the NFL-best Baltimore Ravens.
It's a far cry from the 5-12 season when the Rams became the 17th Super Bowl team to miss the playoffs the next season.
“I love the way that these guys have come in and I like the consistency that I’ve seen throughout the course of the year," coach Sean McVay said. “But I think we have really started to play better football, more quality football, more complementary.”
The Giants enjoyed a playoff run last year in Brian Daboll's first at the helm but were eliminated from this year's tournament after a 33-25 loss to the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Daboll complemented Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford on his performance this season.
“He’s one of the top quarterbacks in the league, been that way for a long time,” Daboll said. “Playing good team football."
