Los Angeles Rams vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Rams welcome a Steelers team into SoFi on Sunday that is looking for answers on offense. Pittsburgh is averaging just 15.8 points per contest this season behind second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett. That's bad enough for No. 30 overall in the league.
The Steelers' highest output of the season came in a 26-22 win over the Browns at home in Week 2. The offense has eclipsed the 20-point mark just once more, in a 23-18 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas the following week. Pittsburgh sits a half-game behind the Ravens for the AFC North lead.
Offensively, the Rams are middle of the pack scoring 23 points per game. That's 12th in the league. L.A. is 3-3, but two of those three losses were to the 49ers and Eagles, arguably the two best teams in the league. The other loss was to a surging Bengals team in Cincinnati.
There is a bit of familiarity between the two teams. Pickett played collegiately at Pitt, the same school where Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald played. Donald still works out there every offseason and the two got to meet early in Pickett's collegiate career.
“He kind of showed me the way, and showed me how to train and how to work,” said Pickett, now the Steelers' starting quarterback. “From afar, I would just watch. I never really talked — just hellos — until I earned his respect to be able to talk to him a little bit more. But there’s a reason he is who he is, and he works hard. Showed me the ropes.”
Donald grew up a huge Steelers fan and still has mixed feelings about facing them on the field.
“My first year (in 2015), I was excited about it,” Donald said of his first chance to play against the Steelers. “Obviously, going back to Pittsburgh (in 2019), it was exciting. Now, it's cool to play against the team that I grew up watching and all that, but it's just another week. Want to find a way to be successful. ... I still consider myself a Steelers fan until we've got to play them, and I still look to see if they're doing good.”
