Rams WR Cooper Kupp Reacts to Seahawks Signing Bobby Wagner
After mutually agreeing to part ways with the Los Angeles Rams following a disappointing 5-12 season, inside linebacker Bobby Wagner found his new (not really) home on Saturday, returning to the Seattle Seahawks.
Almost a year to the day when Wagner decided to join the Rams after exiting Seattle, it drew a celebratory tweet from his Los Angeles teammate, wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
"Let's go!! Don't have to play against [Bobby Wagner] anymore," Kupp said last year.
Fast forward a year later, and Kupp is now laughing off the proverbial pain of seeing his ex-teammate Wagner go back to his NFC West rival Seahawks.
Wagner joined the Rams last offseason in the hope of chasing another Super Bowl ring, which didn't seem likely if he had stayed with the Seahawks, who were heading into a rebuild after trading away quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
Wagner would sign a big five-year, $50 million contract to switch teams in the NFC West and join the then-reigning champion Rams.
But, despite Wagner still playing at a high level recording 140 tackles, 10 for a loss, six sacks, and two interceptions, the Rams fell way short of expectations. As a result, the Rams would begin their "roster remodeling" by releasing the 32-year-old.
Wagner will return home to Seattle, where he played the first 10 years of his career.
