CBS Sports Predicts Winning Record For Rams in 2023
Many NFL analysts believe the Los Angeles Rams are in for another rough season in 2023. After posting a 5-12 record last season and a major roster overhaul during the offseason, it's understandable why most aren't high on the Rams right now.
However, there are a few analysts who view L.A. in a more-favorable light, with Will Brinson of CBS Sports being one of the most notable. Brinson recently predicted that the Rams will finish the upcoming season 9-8, well above their projected win total of 7.5 according to Caesars Sportsbook.
Brinson cites several reasons for his optimism, including his belief in head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford. Additionally, he believes the Rams won't have such brutal injury luck this time around, which should help them better compete in a relatively weak NFC.
"Probably the biggest differential between the Vegas line and my projection," Bronson writes. "Some will claim it's my noted affinity for Matthew Stafford but it has much more to do with a weakened NFC, trusting Sean McVay and believing injuries won't stifle this team like they did in 2022. L.A. (146.5) was right behind Denver (148.5) for most Adjusted Games Lost last year, which could signal some improvement. Go 2-2 out of the gate or better and the Rams might be going full Undertaker GIF."
The early part of the season will go a long way in deciding how the Rams will fare as a whole. L.A. has three brutal games to start the season, with road games against the Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals sandwiching a home match with the San Francisco 49ers. To live up to this surprising projection, the Rams will likely have to score at least one upset before a road game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.
No matter what lies ahead for the Rams, it's nice to see a more-optimistic projection in a sea of pessimistic ones.
