Matthew Stafford vs. Stetson Bennett? Rams' Cooper Kupp's Funny 'Hot Take'

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is back ... to take a fun poke at Matthew Stafford at OTAs.
In this story:

It's good to have Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp back in the building and back in front of the media microphones ... as evidenced on Tuesday at Rams OTAs, when he took a fun poke at buddy Matthew Stafford.

The Rams now employ a pair of quarterbacks who matriculated at the University of Georgia - though a few classes apart from one another. Kupp is of course highly aware of Stafford's strengths (and as we're about to learn, his weakness) and he's getting to know all about the new kid, too, as the Rams drafted Stetson Bennett in the fourth round of the April NFL Draft.

What is the difference between the old guy and the new guy, Cooper?

“(Bennett) is definitely the most athletic quarterback from Georgia that we’ve got on our team," Kupp said.

Stafford's lack of "athleticism'' - actually really just a lack of open-field running ability at age 35 - has not gotten in the way of his overall success with the Rams. He battled through injuries last year and only played in nine games, ending the season with 2,087 passing yards and 10 touchdowns to nine interceptions. But the Super Bowl title the year before that still resonates ... and creates a situation where there is lots to learn for Bennett, age 25, who did himself win back-to-back titles at Georgia.

But Kupp - who is coming back carefully from ankle surgery; “I’m feeling really good now,” he said - is right: Scrambling downfield as a ball-carrier is not something Bennett will be learning how to do from Stafford.
