The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to face a New York Giants team on Sunday that has been eliminated from playoff contention, but that doesn't mean that they won't present some challenges.

This week, Rams head coach Sean McVay discussed Wink Martindale's Giants defense, complimenting his scheme as one that has caused havoc in the NFL for multiple seasons.

“Wink’s a guy that I’ve always had a lot of respect for,” McVay said. “He does a great job of deploying his players. You can see he’s able to adjust and adapt to what he thinks they do best and then he puts a lot of pressure on you situationally, and he understands some of the issues that he can present."

One such issue that the Giants defense can give opposing teams is an ability to create turnovers. The Rams' offense has been a big reason for their revival in recent weeks, but a failure to take care of the football could make Sunday's game a little more hairy than it would be otherwise.

"They’re a real challenge to be able to prepare for, and they’ve got really good players," McVay said. "You can see why in some of the stretches where they’ve played excellent football, they’re taking the football away, and that’s leading to winning games, and they’re very opportunistic. … It’s a real credit to their guys and then also Wink.”

Kickoff on Sunday in New Jersey is scheduled for 10 a.m. PT, and the game will be televised on FOX, with the 8-7 Rams pushing for a playoff berth and sitting as 4.5-point favorites over the 5-10 Giants.
