NFL Mock: Baltimore Ravens Get 'Perfect Pick' in Oklahoma's Tyler Guyton
The Baltimore Ravens' path back to the AFC Championship game will be one that could be considered tougher than last season. That is due to the free agency losses the franchise suffered.
With several coaches moving onto different jobs with defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald perhaps the biggest change. There were also personnel changes too. The offensive line was ravaged with Morgan Moses (Jets), Kevin Zeitler (Lions), John Simpson (Jets) all leaving. Not to mention the loss of running back Gus Edwards and defensive pieces in Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers), Patrick Queen (Steelers) and Geno Stone (Bengals).
There are so many needs that Baltimore has to address, but in NFL.com's latest mock draft, the Ravens fortify their offensive line with the addition of Oklahoma Sooners standout tackle Tyler Guyton.
"Baltimore's patience in past drafts has resulted in it finding excellent value late in each round," NFL.com writes. "Guyton would be a perfect Ravens pick in that way, and he meets a need after the Morgan Moses trade and the inconsistent availability of veteran Ronnie Stanley."
It seems that the Ravens lucked into needing offensive line upgrades when the upcoming draft class has them in abundance this season.
While Guyton played predominantly at right tackle for the Sooners, where he didn't allow a single sack in the 2023 season, he can also shift out to left tackle if needed. Given the injury worries surrounding Ronnie Stanley, getting cover could prove useful for the Ravens.
A standout pass protector, Guyton could slot straight into the Ravens offense, which has transitioned to a more pass heavy offense under the watchful eye of Todd Monken.
Baltimore came so close to a Super Bowl appearance last season and with so many departures, making back seems like a tough task.
But there is one way the Ravens can make it back to the AFC's penutimate game, and that's if Lamar Jackson can play somewhere near his MVP level. To do that, he needs protection and in Tyler Guyton, he could get just that.
