'Success, But Not Against Us!' Ravens CB Arthur Maulet Wishes Steelers' Patrick Queen Well, But Not vs. Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens lost linebacker Patrick Queen in free agency to the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Cornerback Arthur Maulet knows a little something about playing for the Steelers, having spent two seasons there before coming to Baltimore via free agency before last season.
While Maulet still respects his former Steelers team he definitely doesn't like it. And he wishes Queen well, just not against his Ravens.
“It’s football, man. Obviously, it’s business is business,” Maulet said on Glenn Clark Radio. “It’s a rivalry. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like those guys anymore. I respect them, I don’t have to like them. I respect those guys on the other side, and obviously, I want PQ to have so much success, but not against us.”
Maulet caught fire with the Ravens last season - his first with the Ravens - and was rewarded with a shiny new two-year deal to stay in Baltimore on March 19.
The 30-year-old Maulet appeared in 14 games for the Ravens and made three starts, tying or setting new career highs with two sacks, three quarterback hits, and five passes defended. Pro Football Focus ranked Maulet No. 45 out of 127 qualifying corners, including a top-10 position grade for pass rushing ability.
Queen signed a three-year, $41 million deal with the Steelers in free agency, after spending his entire career in Baltimore, where he was the No. 28 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In May of last year, the Ravens declined the fifth-year option on Queen's rookie contract that would've paid him $12.722 million in 2024, in what was considered a cost-cutting move.
