NFL Draft: Which QB Compares to Ravens' Lamar Jackson?

There's a bright future ahead for the 2024 NFL Draft's quarterback class and one member has landed a favorable comparison to Baltimore Ravens thrower Lamar Jackson.
In this story:

Having resolved last year's contract dispute, the Baltimore Ravens won't have to worry about Lamar Jackson popping up with another team ... at least not in the form of Jackson himself, anyway.

Offering comparisons for the major players of the upcoming NFL Draft, ESPN's Matt Miller favorably likened LSU's multi-faceted threat Jayden Daniels to the current Ravens star, reasoning that each used their ways of beating opponents through both the air and ground turned them from day three afterthoughts into premier choices.

"[Daniels] entered the season with a Day 3 grade from NFL scouts but put together a 50-touchdown campaign (40 passing, 10 rushing) with just four interceptions. Daniels is not only the draft's best deep-ball thrower -- he had a 99.6 QBR targeting vertical routes -- he's also the most dangerous runner among the quarterbacks."

"The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder had 3,812 passing yards and 1,134 rushing yards last season. With a strong pre-draft process, QB2 status is not out of the question."

Daniels, the most recent hoister of the Heisman Trophy, is set to be one of the first quarterbacks taken off the board this spring alongside Caleb Williams and Drake Maye (who are respectively compared to Aaron Rodgers and Justin Herbert by Miller). Similar to Jackson's pre-draft analysis, some see Daniels' dual-threat abilities to be a double-edged sword, making him prone to injury, though there at least haven't been any calls for him to transfer to receiver.

2024 NFL Mock Draft: Ravens Add Boost to Defensive Talent

Barring any trades, Baltimore won't have to worry about this potential Jackson clone invading its divisional domain: despite injuries to their franchise men, Cincinnati and Cleveland are respectively set to go into battles with Jackson boasting Joe Burrow and Deshaun Watson while Daniels will likely be long gone by the time Pittsburgh picks at 20th overall.

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held on April 25-27 in Detroit.
