Ravens' Biggest Rival Loses Top Offensive Coordinator to Titans

The Baltimore Ravens may be focusing on their AFC Championship Game right now, but their hold on the AFC North division might get easier next year with a coaching change to their biggest rival.

If the Baltimore Ravens and their fans were already on cloud nine while preparing for their AFC Title Game bout against the Kansas City Chiefs, the latest news regarding a division rival in the AFC North should make them even happier.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan has been hired by the Tennessee Titans to be their new head coach, as first reported by NFL Network.

With Callahan, the Titans get a coach who has worked with top quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, Peyton Manning, and Derek Carr. Since 2019, the first-year Callahan was hired with Zac Taylor, the Bengals have had a top-10 offense twice while reaching the Super Bowl in 2022.

Callahan had several second interviews lined up with other teams during this coaching carousel and received acclaim for helping backup Jake Browning go 4-3 as a starter when Burrow was lost for the season due to a wrist injury.

Losing Callahan is a serious blow to the Bengals plans in 2024. Cincinnati is already expected to lose one of their trio of top wideouts in Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.

While Callahan did not call plays, he was a constant voice in Burrow's ear. Replacing him will not be easy.

That makes the current Ravens situation an ideal one after leading the league in wins. Having their potential top rival in the AFC North lose an important member of their offense means it will take time for that unit to gel together in 2024.

Baltimore and Cincinnati have won the vaunted division now for five of the last six seasons. A slow start for the Bengals could mean that Baltimore will be in prime position to repeat as division champs.
