Do Ravens Have 'Best Ever Collection of WR Talent' For Lamar Jackson?

The Ravens have surrounded Lamar Jackson with some serious weapons ahead of next season, with Judy Battista calling the receiver room the best ever Lamar has had at his disposal.

The Baltimore Ravens have a little pep in their step, and rightly so. Lamar Jackson has officially signed his new, long-term deal, and the franchise has added some serious weaponry to surround their quarterback with.

But how is the current crop of receivers led by Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers?

According to NFL Network's Judy Battista, the receiving room is the best Lamar has ever had at his disposal as a Raven.

“The Ravens have really assembled what is the best collection of wide receiver talent he has had,” Battista said on NFL Network. “This is a team that is such a revered franchise but they have struggled to develop top level wide receiver talent.

“Eric DeCosta has said he wanted to re-build that receiving room and that he was going to take as many swings at it as he could. It started with Nelson Agholor in free agency then of course they signed Odell Beckham and then drafted Zay Flowers. This is an offense that we should see a lot more passing. They’ve now got the weapons to catch the ball. Again, I think this is the best receiver room Lamar has ever played with.”

“The offensive line is in good shape so if Lamar can stay healthy and on the field, he is poised to have perhaps his best passing season.”

A room now consisting of Beckham Jr., Flowers, Rashod Bateman, who is returning from injury, Nelson Agholor, and Devin Duvernay, and suddenly, we understand where Battista is coming from.

Lamar has, at times during his NFL career, had only tight end Mark Andrews as a consistent target, along with Marquise Brown, before being moved on.

Now, Baltimore enters the new season with a host of weapons unlike anything Jackson has ever had, and to say that Lamar is excited to get going is an understatement.

Said Jackson: "I'm very eager ... I told someone I want to throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have. I'm not an individual awards type of guy or a stat watcher; I just want to do that. No one's ever done it, and I feel like we have the weapons to do it."

After an offseason that had as bleak an outlook as a franchise could have, to what possibilities are now in front of the Ravens next season, it is no wonder Jackson is eager to get going with his new offensive weapons.

But going for 6,000 passing yards? We may have to let the cake bake on that one.
