Ravens' Deep Running Back Room Could Produce 'The Next Raheem Mostert'
The Ravens' story at running back is a long one, and it's one that's dominated by injuries. But that's also the story of the NFL as injuries are part of the game that every team has to deal with.
After nine seasons in the league and dealing with numerous injuries for his entire career, Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert is on fire. He's already registered a franchise-record 18 rushing touchdowns with three games left to play. He's been an integral part of the Dolphins' success this season as they lead the AFC East.
Yardbarker thinks Baltimore's J.K. Dobbins can be for the Ravens what Mostert has become for the Dolphins.
"Physically, Dobbins and Mostert are practically identical. Both are 5-foot-10 but Dobbins is a pound heavier than Mostert at 215 pounds. Mostert is widely considered the fastest player in the NFL. He hit 23.09 mph on a touchdown run against the Jets in 2020 and ran a 4.34 in the 40-yard dash coming out of college."
Ravens Scout 49ers QB Brock Purdy: 'He's Playing Winning Football!'
Unfortunately for Dobbins - much like Mostert - his career is stuck in a hospital bed. Dobbins has played in just 27 games for the Ravens - including three playoff games - over his first three seasons. Mostert recorded a similar 25 games in his first three years in the league.
Dobbins is again out for the season, going down in Week 1 against the Texans. He's a free agent next season, and if he remains in Baltimore, it'll most likely be on the now-infamous "one-year prove it deal." If Dobbins can come back from his most recent injury and remain healthy for an extended period, the Ravens would be ecstatic to have his production for a full season and reward him handsomely.
