The Baltimore Ravens draft picks this year consist of one in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth rounds and two in the fourth and seventh rounds. There will be plenty of opportunity for general manager Eric DeCosta to make his team better.

During Tuesday's pre-NFL Draft press conference, DeCosta discussed the team's first-round pick.

“You’re hoping to get that value at that pick,” DeCosta said. “For us, you just hope and pray that one of those top-20 guys might be there for us at 30.”

It's an important draft, obviously, for the Ravens. But maybe moreso than ever. Baltimore is coming off a 13-4 dominating season where they advanced to a home AFC Championship game only to be beaten by the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Soon after the end of the season, the Ravens' coaching staff was poached by the rest of the league.

Former offensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is now the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks while a litany of other assistants have moved on.

But for DeCosta, it's just another offseason and he's not at all concerned about filling empty roster sports or finding talent.

“There are a lot of different opportunities along the way to add players,” DeCosta said. “We’ve traded for players. We’ve drafted players. We’ve signed guys, unrestricted free agents. We’ve signed guys, ‘street’ players who have made it. We’ve worked guys out.

"Our coaches do a great job working guys out, giving us a chance to find guys like Ronald Darby (and) those types of players (like) Arthur Maulet and players like that, so I think we’re just really getting started. A big part of that is certainly going to be the draft, but the destination is September, not May.”
