Is Trading For Top Wideout in Cards For Baltimore Ravens?

Despite limited draft resources and cap space, the Ravens have an obvious need at wide receiver. One that a veteran superstar could be a perfect fit for.

The Baltimore Ravens have an obvious need to fill at wide receiver. The San Francisco 49ers have a dominant wideout they simply are struggling to pay.

Are the stars aligning for Baltimore to make a move?

Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel are considered part of one of the best receiver duos in the NFL. Last season, they combined for over 130 catches, over 2,000 yards, and 14 touchdowns. The receivers helped young quarterback Brock Purdy stay in MVP contention, and led the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII.

Aiyuk, 26, is entering the final year of his rookie deal while Samuel, 28, has an out in his contract following the 2024 season. The simple notion is that one of these two receivers could be on the move as the 49ers prepare to pay big money for Purdy's new deal. Should that happen during the 2024 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens should do everything in their power to try and facilitate a deal.

It's important to note that despite some lingering reports of a trade request going down, Aiyuk's representation said he has not asked the 49ers for a trade at this point.

That doesn't mean San Francisco won't trade him, either.

If Aiyuk and Samuel are looking for new deals, the Baltimore Ravens could be interested in a trade while also giving long-term contracts with minimal cap hits to both players. It would allow two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson to play with a veteran receiver out wide, and keep the Ravens offense among the best in football.

For the potential price of a first and mid-round pick, the Ravens offense could transform again to a group noone wants to play. At the very least, if the 49ers are looking to start over at receiver, the Ravens should come calling.
