'Built From The Same Cloth!' Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey On Rock Ya-Sin's 'Mindset'

As the Ravens prepare for the 2023 season, Marlon Humphrey has plenty of praise for the offseason addition of Rock Ya-Sin.
In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens fielded one of the NFL's best defenses last season, stifling teams on a weekly basis. They were the third-best scoring defense in the league, holding opponents to 18.5 points per game on a mere 324.3 yards of total offense.

Looking to build on that this offseason, the Ravens added reinforcements through the draft and in free agency. Chief among them was the signing of veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.

There was plenty of reason to like the signing of Ya-Sin, both on his end and that of the Ravens. Joining a team known for its elite defense, Ya-Sin detailed what made him so excited to sign with Baltimore this offseason.

"I liked the fit," Ya-Sin said. "I liked the defense, liked the culture. I liked the organization. [There are] a lot of really good players to compete with, guys to learn from, a great locker room. I just felt like it was a good fit for me."

Last season with the Raiders he recorded solid numbers, despite starting in only nine of his 11 appearances. He tallied 45 total tackles, also showing off his coverage skills with seven passes defended.

Now, he joins a secondary headlined by fellow cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who raved about what he's seen from his new running mate so far during training camp.

"I'm a fan of how strong he is. He plays really tough," Humphrey said. "We're both kind of built from the same cloth, as far as the physicalness. You want to have corners and DBs that don't have any egos. You get beat, you get to the line, you play the same way."

"You're not worried about this, you're not worried about that, you don't care who makes the play; you're just wanting somebody to make the play. So, I really like Rock's mindset."

Once again the Ravens are poised to have one of the best offenses in the league this season. Led by Humphrey and Ya-Sin at the cornerback position, opponents will not have fun playing Baltimore.
