Ravens CB Marcus Peters 'Splashy Get' For Raiders?
The Baltimore Ravens are working hard to improve their roster before training camp begins full-swing with veterans reporting on July 25. One key piece that may be missing from last season is corner Marcus Peters.
And per Bleacher Report, Peters "should be" a target of the Las Vegas Raiders. Peters was listed for the Las Vegas franchise as a "splashy acquisition before 2023 training camp."
"As a career ballhawk who excels in man coverage, Peters can provide much-needed help in the secondary. Sure, Peters had a down 2022 campaign, allowing a 113.7 passer rating and seven touchdowns in coverage, but he had to bounce back from a torn ACL while learning a new scheme under Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald.
"In defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's man-heavy coverage scheme, Peters could rebound from a forgetful year and start for a defense that needs his veteran savvy on the boundary. If Peters can still find the football in coverage, he's an ideal free-agent target for the Raiders, who have logged just 12 interceptions over the last two years."
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta commented earlier in the offseason: "Marcus Peters is a free agent," DeCosta said as he spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. "He's a guy that I hold in very, very high regard. I had a few conversations with Marcus' agent, who is a good friend. Marcus is a great friend. He and I have communicated, and that will be ongoing. When you talk about true Ravens - guys that have done a lot for the team - for me, for the Ravens over the last four years, Marcus is on that list."
Peters, 30, hit free agency after four seasons in Baltimore. In parts of three seasons since coming over from the Los Angeles Rams in an October 2019 trade, Peters has earned 99 tackles, eight interceptions, and four forced fumbles. He skipped the whole 2021-22 season after suffering a torn ACL shortly before the season began.
