'Door Not Closed!' John Harbaugh on CB Marcus Peters Future With Ravens
The defense of the Baltimore Ravens was once again one of the NFL's best last season, as they finished third in scoring defense after holding opponents to 18.5 points per game. One of the driving factors in another dominant showing from their defense was a strong secondary that only gave up 232.2 yards per game through the air.
While the secondary got even stronger with the signing of veteran cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, coach John Harbaugh shut down the notion that it precludes the Ravens from bringing in further help in the secondary - namely cornerback Marcus Peters.
"I would say no," Harbaugh told reporters Saturday. "I don't think you ever really close the door on any personnel move. Whoever it might be. You'd probably ask me about Marcus (Peters) and whatever other corners are out there. You don't close the door on good players and good people, you just see how it goes."
Peters, of course, is a free agent and has yet to be re-signed by the Ravens this offseason. In his three seasons in Baltimore Peters has yet to have a fully healthy season, which includes missing the entire 2021 season after tearing his ACL in practice just five days before the start of the season.
Last season saw Peters appear in only 13 games for the Ravens, recording 47 total tackles with an interception as well as a pair of forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.
Even with his injury issues in Baltimore, Peters has been a consistent anchor in the secondary and has shown he's still worthy of a contract. You can never have too much secondary help and the possibility of a Peters reunion for the Ravens is one that should not be ruled out.
