Ravens' Harbaugh Says Mark Andrews Could Return for Playoffs
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews went down on the first drive against the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 16 during a Thursday Night Football matchup and hasn't seen the field since.
Cincinnati linebacker Logan Wilson brought down Andrews with a hip-drop tackle, that some feel is just as dangerous as the now-banned horse-collar tackle - it's just not yet illegal. Andrews didn't get up and immediately began writhing in pain while lying on the field. Players and officials immediately ran to his aid.
He was able to walk off the field without aid - albeit gingerly - but was seen on crutches heading to the locker room for X-rays.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement after the game that Andrews had suffered "a serious ankle injury" that was likely "season-ending." Andrews had been a key part of the new Todd Monken Baltimore offense as one of Lamar Jackson's favorite targets - as years passed.
But on Wednesday, Harbaugh told reporters that "Mark Andrews is either on schedule or a bit ahead of it. Our job is to get to the point where we’re still playing when Andrews is ready to come back."
Ravens Safety Wins AFC Defensive Player Of The Week
The Ravens are already considered the team to beat in the NFL and they've played since mid-November without arguably their best offensive player in Andrews.
Baltimore faces Miami on Sunday in a game that could determine the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs which comes with a first-round bye and home-field advantage.
Andrews registered 45 catches for 544 yards and six touchdowns before leaving with the injury.
