Ravens' Kyle Hamilton Chalks Career Day Up to 'Team Rush'

Kyle Hamilton was more than happy to share the love and wealth when it came to one of the Baltimore Ravens' Sunday silver linings.

Granted a bigger role in the Baltimore Ravens' defensive duties on Sunday, Kyle Hamilton was not going to give away his shot.

Formerly of South Bend, Hamilton has since traded gold for purple as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. The 14th pick of the 2022 draft has sometimes struggled to live up to the lofty box score expectations placed upon him but he fulfilled those duties and then some against the Indianapolis Colts. Though it became a mere footnote in what became a 22-19 overtime defeat at M&T Bank Stadium, Hamilton earned three sacks of Colts backup quarterback Gardner Minshew.

In the illustrious defensive history of the Ravens, only one other secondary defender (original Raven Bennie Thompson in 1996) has earned three quarterback takedowns for a loss in a single game. Such history was enough to impress Baltimore newcomer and lauded modern pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

“Six-four at safety and can run, can hit,” Clowney said, per Baltimore Beatdown. “I like playing with him. He’s going to bring it.”

A grateful Hamilton was more than happy to label his personal best as a team accomplishment. Baltimore (2-1) was credited with five sacks on Sunday, including a safety in the shadow of the field goal post when Minshew stepped in the back of his own end zone on a dropback.

“Any time you get an edge blitz like that it’s kind of a team rush,” Hamilton said. “You got Clowney on the edge who is one of the best pass rushers in this league and he’s pretty much giving himself up so I can free up and get those sacks. We were joking about it, going back and forth the whole game.”

Hamilton and the Ravens will look to get back in the win column next Sunday when they hit the road to resume divisional play against the Cleveland Browns (1 p.m. ET, CBS).
