Lamar Jackson Finally In Attendance For Baltimore Ravens OTAs
After the NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens appear to be set for an outstanding season of football in 2023. They've improved their offensive weapons at the wide receiver position with the additions of Odell Beckham Jr., Zay Flowers, and Nelson Agholor.
They also signed their franchise quarterback to a new five-year deal. So what's next? Offseason workouts, and they've already started. But the aforementioned quarterback has been conspicuously absent. Until now.
Reports are that Jackson is at the Ravens' facility for the second OTA practice.
That's notable because the team is implementing a new offensive system under new coordinator Todd Monken. After Jackson missed the first two phases of offseason workouts, Monken didn't express any worries about Jackson.
“Well first off, we’re excited about the guys who are here,” Monken said, via of ESPN. “I know Lamar’s working hard. I know the guys who aren’t here are working hard. They’re pros. When they’re here, they’re here. We look forward to getting them here and getting them up to speed to what we’re doing offensively.
“I think that’s probably the biggest challenge, but it’s football. When they get here, they get here, and we’ll get them up to speed.” Monken continued that he hopes Jackson and Beckham will report "in a short amount of time."
And now, Jackson is in the facility and ready to start learning Monken's new system. On the first day of the NFL Draft last month, Jackson agreed to a five-year, $260 million contract with $185 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid player in the league.
With Jackson finally in camp, today starts what the Ravens hope is a deep playoff run that starts with an AFC North title.
